Fire Extinguishers in South London, Surrey, West Sussex & Across the South East

Arun Fire Ltd has a proven track record as firefighting equipment specialists stretching back to our establishment in 1992. Located in West Sussex, we provide market-leading products and a professional service throughout the South East, including Surrey, South London and Central London. A key aspect of our service includes fire extinguisher sales, through which we meet the fire safety needs of domestic, commercial and industrial clients.

Fires fall into several classes and in order to fight them effectively, we provide a wide range of extinguishers. We work closely with property owners throughout the region, from Brighton and Worthing to South West London, to ensure we install the most appropriate type of protection.

Below, we have taken a closer look at the different fire classes and the most appropriate fire extinguishers used to fight them. To take the first step toward safeguarding your own premises, please contact our fire extinguisher sales department on 01403 741 698 or 07967 834 430.

A Guide to Fire Classes

In order to help with installing the right fire extinguishers, fires fall into one of six classes based on the kind of fuel they burn.

  • Class A – General Combustible Fires – These fires burn combustible solids such as paper, woods and textiles. Class A fires are one of the most common types encountered by property owners in West Sussex, Surrey, South London and Central London. They require use of water-based fire extinguishers
  • Class B – Flammable Liquids – These fires burn flammable liquids such as alcohol, petrol, oil and solvents. As a result, they produce thick, black smoke. Class B fires should be carefully extinguished by smothering the flames, starving them of oxygen. This makes foam or powder fire extinguishers the most appropriate solution
  • Class C – Flammable Gases – These fires use gases like methane and butane as their fuel. They remain one of the most dangerous fires to fight, and the gas supply must be isolated before attempting to do so. Our fire extinguisher sales department recommends dry powder extinguishers for clients in Brighton, Worthing, South West London and the surrounding areas
  • Class D – Metal Fires – Only certain metals have flammable qualities and even they take a significant amount of heat to ignite. As a result, they most likely occur in industrial environments. To avoid potentially explosive reactions, we utilise powder fire extinguishers. Water-based products must never be used on class D fires
  • Electrical Fires – The UK has no class E fire classification, so they are simply known as electrical fires. This relates to the fact that electricity isn’t a fuel, but rather a form of ignition. CO2 and powder fire extinguishers provide the most effective solutions, while water- and foam-based products should be avoided
  • Class F – Cooking Oil Fires – Cooking oil or fats provide the fuel for class F fires. In West Sussex, Surrey, South London, Central London and across the UK, these fires usually take place in domestic and commercial kitchens. Regardless, they must only be tackled with specially-formulated wet chemical fire extinguishers

Whether in local areas like Brighton and Worthing or locations in Surrey or South West London, Arun Fire Ltd provides a complete range of fire extinguishers to meet any requirement. Our fire extinguisher sales department provides advice and guidance on the most suitable options from our range, which includes:
